MUTILATED BODY FOUND.
RAILWAY-CROSSING FATALITY. Per Press Association. Christchurch, January 29.? The body of a man, terribly mutilated, was found at the Waltham railway crossing this morning. It was cut in half, and the legs were broken, and the hands severed. It has not been identified. A CASE OF SUICIDE. The body has been identified as William Challior, a canvasser, residing at Lower Riccarton. He left Lome at 2.30 in the morning. It is presumed he was run over by a shunting engine. He left a letter announcing his intention to commit suicide.
