ANNIVERSARY OF COLONY.
AUCKLAND REJOICES IN DOWNPOUR OF RAIN. Per Press Association. Auckland, January 29. The anniversary of the foundation of the Colony of New Zealand threequarters of a century ago was celebrated to-day by an annual regatta, races, etc. There was a heavy downpour of rain throughout the night, and the weather continues showem-. Rain was general throughout the Province, doing an immense amount hi good to the farming districts, which were suffering from the prolonged drought.
