Burglary in Stratford.
HANNAH’S SHOP ENTERED.
SAFE EXPLODED IN BACK YARD. SUM OF £6O MISSING. A sensational burglary was com. mitted on Messrs R. Hannah and Co.’s premises in Broadway some time late on Saturday night or early yesterday morning. The manager, Mr Lander, left the shop at about 11 o’clock on Saturday night, when everything was locked up. On visiting the shop at about 5 p.m. yesterday-, however, Mr Lander discovered that the safe had been removed.
The police were at once informed, and after a search had been made, the safe was found in the back yard. A hole had been dug in the yard, and the safe put in it. An explosive had been used on the safe. A sum of money variously stated to be from £SO to £9O, chiefly in cheques, is missing.
