CRICKET.
The match between North and South Taraiiaki was concluded on Saturday morning in good weather. North required 133 runs to avert an innings defeat, but failed to do anything with the bowling of Penny and Ongley. Seven wickets were lost for 43 runs, but Matthews, making a rally, improved the situation. He played well, but no one was able to stay with him, and he retired unbeaten for 37, his score including four 4s and two 6's. Gwillira, who battel so well on the previous day, was absent. The innings closed at the luncheon adjournment.
