The wicket was soft. New South Wales won by six wickets/ New South Wales in the first innings made 212 —Pratten 22, Andrews 30, Scott 28. Victoria in the second innings made 124 (Bracket 16, Mathews 23, Soutter 22, Carkeek 17). New South Wales in the second innings lost four wickets for 58 runs, Bardsley 16, Andrews 24.
AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON.

The representative cricket match between Wellington and Auckland teams was brought to a conclusion to-day in fine weather. The match resulted in a drawn game. Wellington made 286 for eight wickets, and then declared the innings closed. Auckland had to make 338 to win in 34 hours of actual playing time. They played out time, and were then 112 runs behind, with three wickets in hand, NORTH V. SOUTH TARANAKI. The selector, Mr K. B. Bain, has chosen the following to represent North Taranaki at Hawera on New Year’s Day, and the day following:— (IwilHm, Hasell, Lash, McGie, Mason, Xicoll, Osborne, 11101181x18, Roberts, Matthews and Stewart. y The South Taranaki team will be as follows :—Blamires, McCarthy, Ongley, Dunlop, Pratt, Stapleton, R. Penny, Haynes, Lyuesky, Penfold, and Peters. Emergencies: Colman, Cantelin, and Machin. INGLEWOOD v. HAWERA. Hawera and Inglewood teams met in a friendly match at Bayly Park on Boxing Day. The match was decided on the first innings, in which Inglewood scored G 3 and Hawera 202.
