In connection with the proclamation of the authorities to allow the Federal Treasurer to issue Australian notes to any amount up to sixteen millions, a loan has been introduced in the House.
THE PRICE OF DRINKS. Melbourne, December, 14. (Received 10.50 a.m.) The Price of Hoods Board decided that the fixing of the prices of drinks was outside the Board’s province, and it does not intend to interfere.'
MEAT WORKS FOR BRISBANE.
(Received 10.50 a.m.) Brisbane, December 14. The Morris Company has purchased 420 acres on the Brisbane river for the erection of meat works, which will cost £130,000.

The Island copra trade is recovering. A large cargo has been shipped from Rabaul to Adelaide.
