A Melbourne cablegram reports the death of Mr Arthur, Minister of Internal Affairs.

The general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand ha,s received a cable from London advising that the directors have declared an interim dividend for the half year to 30th September at the rate of 12 per cent, per annum, which will he paid in the Dominion on January 4.—P.A.

Mr D. L. Hatton, postmaster at Whangamomona for the past two years, left this morning to take up similar duty at Ormondville (H. 8.). Mr Hatton, who has been a very popular officer, was entertained at a send-off last night. Mr Patton, of Kaikoura, Marlborough, is his successor.
