FREE STATE COMMANDANTS SUPPORTING THE GOVERNMENT, (Received 11.50 a.m.) Pretoria, October 18. A meeting of commandants at Kroonjstadt representing the Free State north of Bloemfontein passed a resolution in support of the Government’s measures inside and outside the Union, and asking the south to mobilise the burghers against the rebellion, declaring that Maritz’s treason was a blot on the Free State’s honor. It is noteworthy that the Free State constituencies hitherto were lukewarm regarding the campaign in German South-West Africa.
