ECHO OF A STRIKE.

BRISBANE TRAMWAY DISPUTE REVIVED. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] United Press Association. (Received 11, a.m.) Sydney, October 17. An echo of the Brisbane tramway strike was heard before the High Court, which upheld the Brisbane and Adelaide Tramways Coy’s, application for a prohibition against the enforcement of Justice Higgins’ award in the tramway cases. The chief ground for the application was that the dispute did not extend beyond one State, and that in ordering preference to unionists,he went beyond the powers of the Arbitration Court. The tramway associations in the various States are greatly disappointed at the result as it means that the wholb fruits of the award has been lost. The executives will meet to consider the position.
