The death is announced from London of Sir Charles Lucas, who was the first recipient of the Victoria Cross.
Mr Robert Spenee, of Stratford, writing from London at the end ot June, states that he was in excellent health and enjoying himself greatly. He met, in London, amongst other friends and acquaintances. Cpt. Lampen, who told him he was leaving for New Zealand in August. The outbreak of war since then, however, will undoubtedly have altered that arrangement.
Mr W. M'Laughlin Kennedy, of Stratford, who is on a visit to Scotland was present at a Bannockburn Sexcentenary, celebration in the Royal and ancient borough of Stirling, on June 27th. There was a great gathering ;«$ the clans. Sir D. M. Stevenson proposed the toast of "Scots Abroad,", MrtW, McL. Kennedy having the honour of being selected with Mr J..
