At the Stratford Acclimatisation Society's hatcheries, 50.000 young fish are jijbt beginning to feed. O'l Saturday last a further supply of '\a:<?;s was received, totalling in all 100,000 to date this season.
A dance will he held in the Cardiff school on Friday, proceeds to go to the War I'und. Non-dancers may fill in the time with card-playing.
At the inquest on the death of the youth, Frank "Englebretsen, the evidence showed that four lads went shooting in the bush at Terehunga, and then decided to play at bush rangers. While doing so (states the Press Association) one named Marshall shot at Englebretsen at a distance of a few yards with a small shot gun with fatal results. The verdict ; was that the death was caused by a shot fired by Marshall, the Coroner expressing the hope that this would be a warning to those who were in the habit of playing with firearms.
By last night's mail Mr R. H. Robinson, of Stratford, received a letter from his fourth son, Stanley, announcing his enrolment for the front. Stan. is a member of the A. Battery, Auckland Mounted Field Artillery Territorials. He says in his letter :'"Please don't try to discourage me, for I will never go back on my signature or our colors. I could not stand seeing my comrades enlisting. I will go too." Mr Robinson fully expected this from Stanley, and, naturally, is proud of his son.
