MINE-OWNERS DECIDE TO HELP. THE GOVERNMENT.

Two important resolutions were unanimously adopted by the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners’ Association at the annual general meeting held at the Employers’ Federation’s rooms, tc-day. One which was moved by Mr W; A. Flavell (Westport Coal Coy Ltd), and secondly by Mr T. Shader Weston (Paparoa Coal Co., Ltd.), was “Tfnat individual mine-owners have reported to, the Association that they do not intend to increase the price, of coal during the present crisis- unless the mine cost is increased, and this association heartily endorses the action.” The other.resolution, moved by Mr W. A. Flavell (Westport Coal, Co. Ltd), and seconded by Mr E. W. Alison (Taupiri Coal Co • Ltd, Auckland), was “That the;. Coal-mine Owners’ Association .assure* the Government of New Zealand of thoir sincere desire to assist in every way in their power „to • strengthen the hands of* the, Government in dealirig with the present crisis in the affairs of the Empire, and to accept the requisitions of the Government for all supplies of coal available for the Imperial and Dominion services.”
