County Council’s Move
PURCHASE OF FOOD SUPPLIES FOR THE EMPIRE.
Wanganui, August 7
At the Wanganui County Counqil meeting to-day the following resolution was passed unanimously: “That this Council, having due regard to the seriousness of the situation and the importance of assisting Great Britain to the utmost of our power, asks the Government to pass a validating- Bill enabling this County Council to devote a twentieth, share of its revenue to the purchase in New Zealand of food supplies to be shipped and placed at the disposal of the Imperial Government, and that a circular be sent to all local bodies in New Zealand asking for co-operation.”-:
