Mr Redmond has received a resolution from the New York Committee declaring they are determined to arm the Nationalist, volunteers, otherwise the sad story of (J rattan's volunteers will be repeated. The resolution insists oil Mr Redmond forcing the C!o----vernment to withdraw the arms proclamation or to relinquish control of the volunteers. "THE GUNSMITHS' APPEAL." London, July G. Mr Redmond, presiding at a meeting regarding the repeal of the arms proclamation, said: "The Government awaits the result of the gunsmith's appeal."

The death of Dr: Tohill, Catholic Bishop of Belfast, has removed big power behind the scenes of the Ulster jNationalists. Of a quiet, unassuming character, he was selected by the Pope beeausje he took no part in politics. Nevertheless, his advice was always sought by his northern co-religionists.
