Mr Noel W. Jennings, of the Christchurch Press, who was for two years on the reporting staff of the Stratford Evening Post, has accepted a similar position on the Auckland Herald.
Mr Isaac Gibbs, for many years general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Co., died at Christchurch on Saturday morning, aged 03. Mr Gibbs had been suffering from heart trouble for some time.
Mr R. W. Bond, who for the past three years has been inspector of roads and bridges to the Taranaki County Council, has resigned his position, and will leave shortly to take up that of engineer to the Weber County Council.
Dr. H. Hardwick Smith, who has been the medical superintendent of the Wellintgon Hospital for the past five and a half years, is resigning that position at the end of the present year, in order to enter into private practice in •Wellington.
The friends of Mr J. Norris, of Tututawa, will regret to learn that Mrs Norris died yesterday. Mrs Norris hp,d been in indifferent health for some time, and it was only by careful and skilful nursing that her life had been prolonged so far. The funeral takes place tp-morrow.
A large number of |riends gave Mr and Mrs, Tristram, of Tuna, who have sold their farm, a farewell surprise party on Monday last. During the evening Mr J. A. Thomas presented Mr and Mrs Tristram with a handsome bronze inkstand from their many friends and neighbors. Mr and Mrs E. Blick are also giving a farewell party and dance in honor of Mr and Mrs Tristram next week.
