GISBORNE RACES. - [Pee Press Association.] Gisborne, July 2. The Gisborne Racing Club’s steeplechase meeting opened to-day in fine weather. There is a large attendance. Results:— Maiden Hack, of SOsovs, four furlongs.—Ruapanui 1, Melodist 2, Onn. lord 3. Scratched: Multione, Shep* herd’s Bush. Won by two lengths. Time 49 2-ssecs. Park Hurdles, of loOsovs, If miles— Grey King 1, Lamsdorff 2, The Pole 3. Also started: Ruatangata and Rising Sun. Won easily, five lengths between second and third. Time 3min. 20sec. Flying Handicap, of 130sbvs., six furlongs.—Chortle and Lady Alicica (dead heat) 1, Mystie 3. Scratched; Tatimi, Multiplicity. A good race, a length and a-half between [first and third. Time, Imin 16sec. Steeplechase, of 300 sovs; three miles.—Sir Lethe 1, The Chief 2, Golborne 3. Scratched: Stroller and Fond Memory. Napper Tandy fell and broke his neck. Game also fell. Sir Lethe led all the way and won by six lengths, four lengths between second and third. Time, 6min 18 2-5, sec.
