HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
The House met at 2.30 p.m. On resuming/ after the Speech, Mr McCoombs .(Lyttelton) was sworn in. The House proceeded to formal business. Sheaves of notices of motion and notices oLquestions were given. - Hon. Mas. Allen gave notice of indention to- introduce a Religious Initruction in Schools Referendum Bill. Sir Joseph Ward gave notice of a dill to amend the Evtlilic Service Act. Sir Joseph Ward also moved that here be laid on the table of the House i copy of the agreement appointing i naval advisor, and all papers oonvected therewith. Sir Joseph Ward .also gave notice >f intention to ask the Premier why he had promised that the important change in the Constitution, embodied in the Legislative Council Reform Bill, would he introduced in the nominative Chamber and not in the House. Mr Lee gave notice that on Tuesday he would move tho Address-in-Roply. Sir Joseph Ward congratulated Mr Massey on the honor conferred on him by his (enrolment as a member of the Privy Council, and wished him long 'ife and good health to carry out the duties of his office. Mr Massey, in reply, desired to L hank the leader of the Opposition for iis kindly felicitations. Leave of absence was granted to Hon. 1). Bnddo, Messrs Brown, E. Xewman and Payne. Tho Minister of Defence laid (journal Hamilton’s report on tho table, and the Premier movfed the fust reading of the Expiry Laws Continuance Bill, pro forma. The House rose at 3.10 p.m.
