OUR BOYS AT TAKAPAU. Stratford Post Special.) Takapau, May 4. There was heavy rain on Saturday, the troops returning from the field at noon. The camp, especially Xlth Regiment lines, was a sea of mud. Sunday was a splendid day, the camp drying perfectly, and a large number of visitors were present from Napier, Dannevirke, and as far as Feilding. At football, Vth Regiment beat the Xlth 6—3, after a great game, which was watched by 4000 spectators. Last night the gale blew with terrible force, and at 2 o’clock all the men were pegging down tho tents and the marquees were levelled, but jo-day is fine with little wind. All the regiments on the respective training grounds are away from camps, the bands playing them out. The morning was devoted to company training and the afternoon to outposts. To-morrow the battalion will be training in defence and attack, and each half battalion in alternate attack and defence work in conjunction with the field engineers. The Inspector-General (Sir lan Ham. ilton) arrives to-morrow afternoon, and there will be an inspection of th® manoeuvres on Wednesday. He will be the guest of Mr Sidney Johnston, at 7 his homestead. Further news of the riot has been censored by the authorities.
