Renter's Christiana correspondent telegraphs that Sir Ernest Shackleton has bought the Polaris, as a flagship.
A recent cable stated that Sir Ernest Shackleton had decided to purchase the recently-built Norwegian icevessel Polaris, to be converted to use oil fuel and renamed Endurance, and employed under Davis' command in the Weddell Sea. The Aurora would probably be selected for the Ross Sea side; failing her, Peary's Roosevelt was under offer. The Endurance would be manned by Navy men.
