SUDDEN DEATH. [Per Press Association.! Hastings, February 24. William Dance, aged 70, dropped dead whilst weeding in his garden this morning. Death was due to heart failure. Ho leaves a widow. ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED. Invercargill, February 24. An inquest was held this evening into the circumstances surrounding the death of Cyril Francis Soar, who together with lan Galloway, was drowned at the “Back” beach, Green-hills,-on Friday last. After hearing evidence, the jury retired and returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally drowned, and was of opinion that everything possible had been done under the circumstances,but recommended that in future surf-bathing parties should provide themselves with life guards. The jury added a rider that they wished to place on record the heroic action of deceased, lan Galloway, and K. G. Archer, for their gallant attempts to save life.
