LIGHT FOR THE COUNTY.
PETITION TO THE MINISTER. Recently the Minister for Public Works, as a result of representations made by the Stratford Borough Council, notified ihe Council that he would forward to them any matter which came under his notice in reference to the application of the Stratford Electrical Supply Co. for a license to supply current in Stratford County; and the Borough Council has now received the following letter from the Minister:— “In compliance with my letter to you of the loth nit., I have the honor to inform yon that r have just received, through the. clerk of the Stratford County Council, a scries of petitions, of which the enclosed is a copy. 1 Encluosurc.) “To the Honorable the .Minister for Public Works of New Zealand. “Supply of Electric Energy to the County of Stratford. “We, the undersigned ratepayers resident within the County of Stratford, are desirous of the Stratford Electrical Supply Company, Ltd., extending the supply of electrical energy for lighting and power purposes to the Stratford County in conformity with a resolution passed by the Stratford County 'Council in that direction. “Wo, the undersigned, therefore beg the Hon. Minister to grant to the said Company such adequate powers and authority as will enable them to extend their lines in compliance with the desires of the ■Stratford County Council, and your petitioners will over pray.”
Two hundred and twenty signatures are appended to the petition.
