Want of Policy.

THE OR ITISH ADMIRALTY. AND THE 1911 PROGRAMME. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyrightl Times— Sydney Sun Special Cables (Received S a.in.) London, February 21. Captain Wilfrid Henderson (in command of the Fouth Destroyer Flotilla), in a letter to the press, accuses the Admiralty of want of a settled policy respecting the Dominion navies and the Pacific. He insists that if the policy adopted in Australia in 1911 had been given sympathy and support, all the Dominions would soon have come into line. Unhappily, Canada had been encouraged to reverse the policy, whilst Australia’s enthusiasm had been met by lukewarmness. Captain Henderson concludes: “We encourage the Turks and Creeks to build and organise their navy by lending some of our best officers. If we can do it for them, we should at least spare no effort to do it for the Dominions.”
