A JOCKEY’S APPEAL. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association. 1 Sydney, February 24. The Jockey Club Committee considered Jockey Eramersou’s appeal in connection will bis suspension. They found the handling of the horse Strathfield by Emmersou was most unsatisfactory, but there was an element of doubt as to whether he rode with dishonest intention of preventing his mount from winning. In view of this and his previous good character, they upheld the appeal. Besides removing Emmerson’s suspension. The decision also removes the disqualification of 12 months imposed on Tyrrel, the trainei 'of the horse Strathfield. i WANGANUI RACES. [By Cicero.] A large number of sportsmen from tins part of the Dominion intend making the journey to Wanganui and help that popular Club with their autumn fixture, which opens to-morrow, and will be continued on Saturday’. The acceptances are not as largo as the stakes warrant, but some capital racing should eventuate, as the names of the best handicap horses in the Dominion appear on the acceptance list. Ten paid up for the opening event, the Stewards’ Handicap. Emperador (9.6) despite his weight, will carry a ton of money on the “tote,” and the same applies to Patronalo, who showed good form at Taranaki. A good lot of fourteen figure in the Petre Hack. Vocation ran well at Riccarton, and with Historietto, should provide a good contest.

The small, field of seven made the payment in the Wcstmere Hurdles. Bercola and The Rover may la; ail the better for a race. Memo Lad ran well at Gisborne, and is evidently well at present. Haif-a-dozen accepted for the Tayforth Hurdles. Waipaku (11.(i) will probably find the weight too much over a mile and three-quarter course. Composed (10.2) stays well and is a fair jumper.

The Cup contains the names of fifteen horses, a dozen of which are real good horses. Bon Ton (9.0) heads the list, and were Gray on hand to rido Bonoform’s son, the writer would look no further for a winner. Sinapis is a proved stayer, and as recent as the Trentham meeting showed winning form. Sir Solo won the Auckland Cup like a racehorse, but failed subsequently to reproduce that form. Bronze ran a good race in the Egrnont Cup, but is not the mare of two season’s ago. Los Angelos ran creditably at Taranaki, but like Bronze, has gone back. Sea Pink (8.2) is remarkably well in. He ran a good second in the New Zealand Cup, and made hacks of the field in the Racing Club Handicap at the Auckland summer meeting. He is very well at present, and is greatly fancied by his connections. Lord Renown and Cheddar (7.11) cannot complain on score of weight, and the same applies to Sir Knox and Byron. Tiresome (7.9) finished very fast in the Taranaki Cup. She is very forward, and her trainer is sanguine of the result. Of the lighter weights Leonta (7.3) looks the most likely. Sea Pink, Tiresome and Bon Ton should bo well supported.

With the exception Vif Recontre, those engaged in the Juvenile Handicap are moderates. Of the nine digged in the Wiritoa Hack, Record and Canute should bo well supported. A number of first-class sprinters are engaged in the Flying Handicap. Bon Rove and Culprit have been coupled with Sea Pink to win a lot of money, and the best of the pair should keep the opposition busy.

News comes from Hawcra of the death of that good little horse St. Paul, which was found dead in a paddock. He was quite right a few hours before he was found. St. Paul proved himself a really good racehorse, and won the Wanganui Derby, Avondale Cup (three times), A.R.C. Welcome Stakes, Auckland Guineas, Northern Champagne Stakes, Great Northern Foal Stakes, and A.R.C. Handicap, while lie has also done well at the stud with very few opportunities.
