The following are the results of the first day's racing of the V.A.T.C. autumn meeting:— Federal Stakes, of oOOsovs., five furlongs.—Raheen 1, Maharajah 2, Andesine 3. Sixteen started. Time, Imin 3sec. Bond Cup, of 650 sovs., one mile.— Effervescence 1, Lord Grey 2, Prizefighter 3. Fourteen started. Time, 2min 36sec. Oakleigh Plate, of 135050v5., five furlongs—Popinjay 1, Xuwara Eliya2. Four Flush 3. Twenty-fire »tarted. Won by a length and a quarter, with the third horse three quarters of a le/igth in the rear. The time, lmin BJsec., is the slowest for five years. St. George's Stakes, of GoOsovs., one mile and a furlong.—Jolly Beggar 1, Mountain Princess 2, Andelosia 3. Thirteen started. Time, lmin oosec. THE MOOREFIELD RACES. At the. Moorefield races, the Stewards' mile resulted—lran 1 Wild West 2, Mandowa 3. Won by a length. Time, lmin 443 sec. Whit worth, bred at Foi'dell, NewZealand, won the Cogarali Stakes at Moorefield. A WORLD'S RECORD. Buenos Aires, February 14. Ironmask, by Disguise—Royal Rose, led by two horses, did a half-milo at Jaurez in 44 3-osec, a world's record. Memo Mr T. I. Lamason publishes- to-day list of goods for AYednesday's Mart sala. The list includes, crate of assarted 'crockery .to ,be sold without reserve, by the order of the assignee. Mr D. Ryan, acting as trustee to the estate .of the late J. Ryan, has sold Con the Shaugbraun to Mr Hugh Nurse, of Christchurch, for 300gns. The new owner left Hawera to-day with the horse for Riocarton.
