"RURAL BRITAIN."
PROTEST AGAINST IMMIGRATION. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] X United Press Association. 1 (Received 9 a.m.) London, February 14. The Rt. Hon. Jesse Collings. P,C, and Unionist M.P. for Birmingham, Bordesley D. since 1886, has published a hook on "The Colonisation of Rural Britain," in which he asserts that next to the influence of Socialism, immigration is the chief factor in changing the face of Rural England. He protests against immigration agents and commercialism luring away the soundest and fittest, and leaving the unfit. "There is," he asserts, "plenty of land available in England to create rural colonies on an occupying ownership basis. * The additional remedy lies in improving the laborer's practical education."
