A deputation from the mining community in the Newcastle district demanded that Mr Cann (Minister of Mines) arrange to import at least 25 doctors from abroad in order to break down the strikes of the members of the British Medical Association. The (leputationists considered it the duty of the Government to unravel the ditfieulty, and that the British Medical Association be asked to show cause for the increased demands on the people. They represented that they did not want a further conference. Mr Cann said he was afraid it was too big an undertaking for the Government to supply every township with a doctor. English doctors were dso members of the Association. He urged a further conference. The Goi/ornment would do whatever was possible to bring about a meeting honorable to both parties.
