BOATING FATALITY. [Paa Press Association. | Auckland, January 8. At the inquest on the body of William Sutton, a postal employee, 18 years old, who was a victim of a boating accident at Birkdale on Sunday afternoon, Mr 1). A. Sutherland, coroner, this morning, returned a verdict of accidental drowning, and remarked that Veart, one of the party, was to be commended for his efforts in attempting to rescue the deceased. AN OLD MAN'S DEATH. ./ . Dunedin, January 8. Michael Tovery, an old resident of Arrowtown, was found dead in his house last evening. He was last seen ilive on Saturday evening, when he ■omplained to Dr. Thomson of a pain in his chest. He was unmarried and had no relatives in the Dominion. At an inquest a verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony, that deceased had died from fatty defeneration of the heart. APPARENT POISONING. Wellington, January 8. An irritant poison, the nature of which has not yet been ascertained, was apparently responsible for the death of Richard Mostyn Hoops, of 26, Oriental Terrace, who was employed as Wellington town traveller for \ wholesale chemical firm. At the inquest this afternoon the medical evidence, although pointing to death by poisoning, threw no light on the source of the irritation which resulted fatally. The proceedings were adjourned until a report is received from the Government Analyst. DEAD WOMAN IDENTIFIED. Wllington, January 8. The middle-aged woman who died suddenly yesterday, after being taken ill in the street near Parliamentary Buildings, has been identified as Mrs Myra Forbes, the wife of Henry Forbes, of Woodlands, Southland. She had been staying with a friend at Tawa Flat, and it was at first thought that he was Mrs Reynolds of that place. BOY'S FATAL ACCIDENT. Westpurt, January 9. Dennis "Mouatt, aged twelve, was, run over by a cart this morning -and ' killed. Ho was riding a bicycls! while looking at an almanac and following a cart. He shot out in front of another cart coming in the opposite direction. The wheel passed over his head. Later. The boy who. was killed this morning was not Dennis Mouatt; the body has not been identified, but it is probably that of a visitor from the country.
