Mr -John White, a confectioner at Southend-on-Sea, who was only 21 inches in height, and was the world's smallest man, died on Boxing Day, states a London cablegram. Mr J. 13. Campbell, stationmaster, , left this morning on his annual leave, i his duties being assumed by Mr (<. j Duncan, relieving office* - . The Czarcwitch is almost well. A I Times—Sydney Sun cablegram from St. Petersburg states that the only remaining trace ol illness is a slight lameness ol' the [eft leg. Mr Harry Curtis, electrical engineer, is at present on a visit to Stratford, and is stayiug with his father-in-law, Mr S. 11. James. Miss Tosh, of Toshvale, Balclutha, i> at present on a short visit to hei brother, Mr Alex Tosh, of Rowan. Miss Khnrie McDonald, also of Balelutha, accompauied her, and is staying with her brother, Mr Win. McDonald, manager of the Kaupokonui dairy factory. Mr Hollard, Kaponga, and Miss Olive Brayshaw, daughter of .Air \Y. •1. Hrayshaw, were married at the Stratford Presbyterian Church on Boxing Dav, the Rev. Pattison officiating.
.Mi-.s Civic Brayshaw ncted as bridesmaid and Mr \Y. Sullivan as best man. The bride was married in her travelling dress, and after the ceremony the happy couple left by motor for the south. The honeymoon is to be spent in the South Island.
