A meeting of the Executive Committee of the above Association was held in the secretary’s oliice jeeterday. A circular was received from the auctioneers of Stratford containing suggestions w hich were placed in the suggestion book for future guidance. A- letter was received from the Hoi-, steiu-Eresian Association offering the Association a special prize of £3 3s for competition amongst farmers for judging Holstein cattle on points. Jt was resolved to accept the prize and provide a competition for judging for farmers and others, entry fee to be 3s.
A sheaf tossing competition will be provided for the public. Entry fee Is. Post entries.
Permission has been granted to the Methodist Sunday School to hold their annual picnic on the grounds in January, 1914. The matter of circularising probable competitors from the Manawatu district was left to Messrs Healy and Hewitt with power to act. It was resolved to call for private tenders for the carting in connection with the show.
The secretary reported that entries were coming to hand satisfactorily.
The General Committee met this afternoon, the President, Mr J. D. Healy. presiding. The President welcomed Mr W. P. Bailey as a member of the committee. It was decided to recommend the executive to engage a man to canvass the district for entries.
The Executive Committee reported as follows; —The grounds are in splendid order, having * been top-dressed with manure, and the green feed for stock will be plentiful, Mr E. Jackson has put rails round the two judging rings at his own expense, and he deserves the thanks of the Committee for his generous action, as well as the following gentlemen:—Mr D. J. Malone has also donated a splendid boiler and frame for the use of the Association. Mr E. Kellchcr has undertaken to paint the cottage on the grounds, and has nearly completed the work. The holding paddocks for competitors is being enlarged by Messrs (Dingle and Kelleher and Porrit. Preparations for the show are well in hand generally, and entries are coming in fast, and judging by this will easily beat previous records. New members are coming in freely, and the
membership is steadily increasing. The Gift Stock Committee have to report that over 100 weaners have already been donated by supporters of the Society, and the Committee are in hopes of increasing the number. A number of new classes have been added to the schedule this year, and should prove highly interesting. The butterfat competition has been deleted, and the one-day test has been substituted. The Executive would be pleased to have names of any gentlemen who'will volunteer to help to erect the tents a day or {two previous to the show. The Executive Committee trust that as the show is dose now that all Committee men will canvas for entries and also see that all matters pertaining to their respective departments arewell in hand.
A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs E. Jackson, W. G redig, Kelloher and Malone for donations.
A recommendation was passed that next year colts be not allowed to compote against fillies and geldings. It was decided to alter class 13, to make it for fillies- and geldings, making a separate class for colls.
