President Wilson has announced his determination to eliminate Huerta by financial pressure. Failing that he will blockade the Mexican ports. THE WILSON POLICY. , i Washington, November 13. President Wilson has formulated a policy. He declared that the X nited States is prepared to invade Mexico if necessary, but' will first endeavor, by financial pressure, to secure Huerta’s retirement. Foreign investors are warned that obligations incurred under the present regime will not be recognised. If peaceful persuasion fails, a blockade of the Mexican ports will destroy the Customs revenue and prevent the importation ■of munitions of wpiv When Huerta’s elimination is secured, efforts will be directed to obtain a provisional President acceptable to both factions, uh--1 der the protection of the tinted
States, until a general election provides a new Congress and a President. The declaration makes it clear that the Ignited States will not acquire territory as a result of. intervention.
POSITION 5 OF PEARSON'S, ‘ LTD

Lord Cowdray, in a letter, protests against the mischievous statements in certain newspapers referring to Pearsons’ financial connection in Mexico. He declares that Pearsons subscribed less than three per cent, of the Mexican Government’s loan and no other investments whatever. THE U.S.A. ULTIMATUM. (Received 9.25 a .m.,) Condon, November 13. Reuter’s New -York correspondent states that excitement has been caus- — ed by Mr Lind presenting an ultima* ~ turn to Mexico. After Mr Lind had left Mexico City for Vera Cruz, the time for a reply to the ultimatum has been extended from six o’clock to midnight.
