The death of Mr John Burns, one oi Auckland s leading merchants, is reported per Press Association. A very quiet wedding was solemnised at tlie Catholic Church yesterday aitornoon, the contracting parties being Mrs X. Sullivan, of the Commercial Hotel, and Mr R. Phelan. After the ceremony the happy couple left by motor car for the north on the honeymoon. General Bramwell Booth, of the Salvation Army, recently made his first long-distance visit since assuming the P n >t of General, going to Toronto, Canada. At a civic reception, at which Sir John Gibson, Governor of Ontario presided,,there were ten thousand present. The War Cry, in dealing with the visit, states that the Array’s work in Canada was started in 1882 by a party of officers from New York, and that now the Army was established in 472 centres.
