'the girl was waylaid at a lonely spot on the Springdale Road, and molested. The murderer was frustrated in his attack, and then shot the girl, blowing olf a portion of tier head. 1 he body was found in a depression a little off the* track. At the inquest, the father of the girl gave evidence that she was not in the habit of walking with anyone. She was strong and healthy, and on the best of terms with the family. The medical evidence showed that there were bruises on both thighs, and that the shot was tired at a distance of two or three feet. Xu strangers have been in the neighbourhood lately. There is no clue.
