She has suffered previous hunger-strikes, and cannot stand another. THE SUFFRAGETTES’ CHANT. London, October 20. Five groups of women and a number of sympathisers at St. Paul’s chanted the suffragette prayer. The vergers asked them to desist or leave. Several clung to the chairs and shouted, and the vergers ejected sixteen. One, before being ejected, struck two of the vergers violently on the face. Outside they fought the police, throwing a constable down, and escaped. They were recaptured. The uproar lasted half-an-hour, but the service was not stopped. .
