Eight lions escaped from a travelling circus which collided with a tram car. The crowd panicked. One of the lions dashed into an hotel and ascended the stairs. The police shot live and are hunting three. 300 SHOTS TO KILL. DAMAGE £SOOO. (Received 10.20 a.in.) The lions belonged to Barnum’s Menagerie. The hunt continued throughout the night. Six were killed, requiring 300 shots to dispose of them. The tamers captured the seventh in an hotel and the eighth on the top of a motor bus. The damage due to the hunt is estimated at £SOOO.
