SOME EFFECTS OF THE BILL.
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright j [United Press Association.] ' l ! (Received 1.45 p.m.) Washington, October 3. The Tariff Bill is now awaiting President Wilson’s signature.
“ The Bill reduces the tariff by an average of ten per cent all round. The estimated revenue under the new-: law covering imports will be reduced by* ten million sterling, which is expected to be replaced by income tax. The value of imports added to the free list exceeds thirty million sterling. . r ■ Democratic leaders expect a reduction of nearly one half the average' tariff on foodstuffs, which it is hoped will materially affect the cost of living. Under the new law, corporations will pay a tax of one per cent on incomes.
