w A sensation was caused in the Legislative Council by Dr. Nash, who

gave notice of his intention to ask if the Government were aware that a member of this House, a Justice of the Peace, and a Knight of the British Empire, had'contributed a large sum towards assisting persons who were threatening rebellion against the Government of the British Empire, bind, if so, whether the Government were going to remove him from the rolls of the House and the Justices of the Peace-, and report the matter to the King. The questions refer to Sir Samuel McCaughey, Now South Wales pastoralist.
