THE FURNITURE TRADE

The Conciliation Council sat to-day to deal with the furniture trade dispute. A recommendation was agreed to on the lines of the 'Wellington award, making 44 hours, constitute a week’s work, £he rate of pay being Is 4jd per hour, apprentices to serve five years, commencing at 8s a week and ending at £1 8s Gd. With the exception of Auckland the whole Dominion is now under union, conditions in this trade.
