A colt by Desmond out of Silver Pheasant brought 6100 guineas, which is a record at Doncaster sales for yearlings. A colt by Symington out of Altair brought 4,500 guineas. A colt by lliherode, out'of, Magnitude, brought four thousand guineas. Nine-ty-one lotfcs averaged nearly six hundred guineas.
THE ST. LEG Ell STAKES. *ln the St. Leger Stakes, Louvois led over half' the journey but was beaten half a mile from homo and finished last. White Magic took up the running and led until Night Hawk challenged and won easily by two lengths. Time 3mm 3 3-sseo—a rcoci’d. The winner is a rank outsider. The owner didn’t even trouble to go to Doncaster. Louvois, gave Night Hawk lolbs and - a beating in the Derby.
