PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs T. Webb and family, late of Warwick Road, left by this morning's mail train for Palmerston, in which district they will in future reside.
Miss Johanna Christabel Breen and Mr Michael Kelly, of Otakeho, were married at the Roman Catholic Church yesterday, the Rev. Father Maples performing the ceremony. The bridesmaids were the Misses Kathleen and Agnes Breen, sisters of the bride. After the wedding breakfast, held at Elder's tea rooms, the happy couple left for their future home at Otakeho.
Seen beside President Poincare, King George is almost a giant. And King George is by no means large (writes a London correspondent). The official head of the French people is a little, round man, with even features, and a serenely cheerful countenance, which bespeaks a man of study and contemplation, rather than a hero of political strife. The last President we had in London was Colonel Roosevelt. The contrast -was remarkable. Roosevelt is altogether a man of action. His grim, forceful features suggested the western sheriff of the best kind. He came fresh from the hunt in Africa, his features well tanned, his powerful physique free of superfluous flesh. He was typical of the best of the wide young country in which he is the greatest personality. President Poincare was not altogether typical of one's conception of the Frenchman. He is all dignity and reserve; one could not imagine him making himself ridiculous in a modern duel.
