Johannesburg, July 18
The strikers’ demands to the present Government include ten days annual holiday, apart from three public holidays, the Factory and Workshops Bill demands to be referred to lho federated trades before introduction to Parliament. \ arious claims arc made for higher wages, overtime., light and Sunday work and the underground work which can ho done on the surface to lie made illegal, on the ground that it is injurious to health.

I t is officially stated that an investiuiou at Johannesburg shows that
a largo proportion of wounds inflicted during the riots were caused by revolvers and shot guns, ammunitioi for which had been looted by hooligans.
