In. the first innings of the match between Yorkshire and Kent, Yorkshire made 100, Blythe taking five wickets for 30, and Woolley four for 10. Kent scored 135, Rhodes taking five wickets for 42 runs. RIFLE SHOOTING, THE MACKINNON SHIELD. London, July 18. Throughout the Mackiunon Shield match the wind frequently changed. The Australians scored a notable victory and were largely helped by judgment in coping with the variable con dilions. The whole team was aclmir ably coached and shot splendidly. They ran away with the match at tin 1000yds range. Blacklow finished wit. eleven consecutive bull’s-eyes. The win was very popular and the team was warmly congratulated. (Received 10.35 a.m.)

The newspapers compliment tin Australians on their popular victory, especially Blacklow’s fine performance. It was a young team, and shot with remarkable consistencyTn difficult cir cumstances. The team is highly commended for its sportsmanship. HOCKEY. STRATFORD v. INGLEWOOD. On Thursday, Stratford beat Inglewood by. three goals to two. Priest (2) and L. Curtis scored for Stratford and M. Harris and Sutherland scored for. the home team. Stratford meets Inglewood next Thursday in a postponed match, and if they win in that match they will he level with Kaponga A. for the championship, and will have to play-off with them for the championship of the northern division.

At Inglewood on Thursday Stratford and Inglewood met, the result being a draw—one goal each. C. Milner scored for Stratford.
