Butter.—The market is .quiet with good demand for butter. There is no change, in prices. The supply of Siberian exceeds the demand; considerable quantities have been put-in store. Cheese.—The market is ."firm;- 1 ■•'and prices continue to advance.. The New Zealand stock is very light.- The v ßua-: pehu Juts .arrived, and is /now dis : cbarging. New Zealand whi'te per cwt,. 675, colored 655" 6d ; Canadian jfiriest white 65s 6d, colored 64s; ; 'Cheshire' finest 735; English Cheddar finest 68s.
The N.Z. L. and M. Agency's Report.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch, report as follows: On Friday, 11th inst., we held a clearing sale on account of Mr A. S. Burke, Lowgarth. i>e day turned out exceptionally old and rough, with a strong southerly wind blowing, but notwithstanding this, there was a very large attendance of the public from Midhirst, Toko, Bird Road, \Cardiff, Lowgarth, Ngaere, Eltham, Kaponga. anil'Awatuna. Competition from the start was exceptionally keen, and the result was a very satisfactory sale, considering that Mr Burke had. not really sold, his farm, but was simph giving it a spell for a season. ' The following prices were realised:—Cows £l3 10s, £l3, £l2 10s, £l2, £ll, £lO 15s, £lO 10s, £lO ss, the main herd ol 37 cows averaging £lO, which Mr Burke considers very satisfactory. Backward store cows averaged £5 ss. There was also very keen competition for pigs, prices being as follows':— Backward sows 30s to 60s, sows with small litters £4 15s to* £7 ss. Horses. —Mare rising 7 years old £23 Ids. mare 4 years old £26 10s, mare rising 6 years old £25, filly, 3 years old. £lO, aged mare £6, m:,k tans from 12s up, milk cart £ll, hay rake £4 ss, disc harrows £3 ..17s od.

'Owing to the overlapping of agents in endeavouring to get stock under offer last week, prices firmed considerably, but as outside buyers did not respond to the rise, prices have again receded. During this week We sold various lines of stock at the following prices:—Lambs lis-to 12s, ewes 14s to 14s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 14s, empty heifers 65s to 70s, 20 month steers 65s to 70s, 2£ to, 3 year old steers at up to £5 ss, mixed weaners realised up to £2 ss, Holstein-Jersey cross weaners 655.
