Auckland, July 10.
The boxing finals were continued. In the featherweights Bennets had an easy win from Dowsing. In the lightweights M. James defeated L. Bliss by a large margin on points. In the middle-weights J. C'adman and C. Cate had a fierce contest. The judges were not unanimous, but the referee decided in favour of Cad man, who he considered had done the cleaner work. The decision, was received with prolonged hooting.
CRICKET.
CAMBRIDGE BEAT OXFORD
(Received 12.20 p.m.) London, July 9
Cambridge beat Oxford by four wickets. The win was largely owing to the two steady innings by Layden of 71 and 45, Fraser played for Oxford, and G. A. Fairbairn, an Australian, for Cambridge.
SCULLING.
THE WINGFIELD SCULLS
In the qualifying heat of the Wingfield Sculls, Wise beat Pinks by 3! lengths. Wise meets Kinnear on Friday.
