ROYAL ASCOT RACECOURSE

The evidence before the House of Commons committee in connection with the Royal Ascot racecourse showed that it had been vested in Viscount Churchill. Sir William Carrington will control and manage the races on behalf of the King. Viscount Churchill stated that he only consented to become trustee on condition that they managed the racee on a business footing. King Edward had authorised the construction of a 5s stand to hold 30,000, the money to be borrowed from Coutts’ Bank against the security of tile Privy Purse. It was proposed to build a shilling stand for the convenience of the populace.
