G.F.S. SALE OF WORK.
IN THE PARISH HALL
An attractive sale of work under the auspices of the Stratford branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society was opened in the Parish Hall this afternoon. The various stalls are crowded with a fine collection of goods in great variety and business should be brisk.
The different stalls are in charge of the following ladies: Tea room, Mrs Grant and Misses King and Hitch; fancy work and dolls, Misses Black and O’Leary’; plain work, Mrs J. Robson ; books, Mrs Prentis; sweets, Miss Hignett. At each stall a’so, numerous members of the Society are acting as assistants. The juniors of the Society have a section to themselves, consisting of flower and work stalls and a bran tub, this department being in ■ charge of Mesdames Middleton, Arden and Mills.
The following are to render musical items during this evening: Pianoforte solo, Miss O’Leary; violin solos, Miss Rodgers and Miss May Hopkins ;songs, Miss Butler and Mesdames E. C. Robinson, Renell, and Massey. It is hoped to raise sufficient money to make it possible to send a contribution to the Girls’ Friendly Lodge, Auckland, an institution which can be made good use of by outside societies. i
