The Peninsular Company is starting a new monthly service between London and the East Coast ports and Australia via the Cape, by means of steamers of the Palma class.
Ottawa, June 18
The Stefanson expedition has sailed from Victoria. Premier Mcßride bade them farewell in the name of British Columbia, Stefanson said that he hoped to discover valuable mineral areas and place them under the British flag. The expedition is likely to return to Hudson’s Bay.

Lightning killed three haymakers who were taking refuge in a shed at Braintree, and also a farmer in Hampshire. Houses in various districts were wrecked.

A bomb thrown from the Blackfriars bridge exploded on striking the water, and shook the neighbouring railway bridge and caused great alarm. There is no clue to the perpetrator. Capetown, June 18.
