BAD CHARACTERS.

[Per Press Association.] Invercargill, May 28

At the Police Court to-day, before Mr Cruickshank, S.M., William Allison and William Kirwan were sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for being found without lawful excuse on the premises of Lee Kinn, at a Chinese cook shop. The defence was that Allison wanted to buy a. pakapoo ticket, hut ho admitted that he never got one at the cook shop before. The Chinese proprietor denied that lie sold tickets. The police gave Allison a had character, and said Kirwan was addicted to drink.
