O.ring to the rise in wages through the Wages Boijrtl awards the increase of the cost of supplies on the New South Wales railways is expected to show a deficit for the year endihg June 130. This is the first occasion for a number cf years. An increase of fares a'nd freight is foreshadowed. A SURPRISE STRIKE. (Received 8.0 a.m.) London, May 28. The surprise strike of carters at Bradford was contrary to the leaders’ advice. Two thousand paraded the streets and prevented others fiom working.
