CHINESE MISSIONS.
Wanganui, May 28. At a mooting of the Wanganui Presbytery to-day it was stated that in view of tho rapid development of the Now Zealand mission in Canton villages, the Mission Council there has urged that Professor Mewitson, of Dunedin, convenor of tho Churches Foreign Mi ssion Committee, he sent to investigate personally the claims ol the growing work. It is also urged that two representatives of the Daymen’s Misisonary Movement should accompany him. Tho Presbyterian Church is being further urged to set apart the Rev. G. McXeur to give* Ins whole time to the training of Chinese preachers, as it is clanged that i; a re is no more important work than to make a self-supporting clmreli. If h- also proposed that Canada and New i ialand unite with America in main - taining a strong college in South China.
