THEODORE ROOSEVELT.
THE STRENUOUS LIFE. “COCKTAILS AND HIGHBALLS.” [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] New York, May 28. At Marquette, Michigan, Mr Roosevelt, giving evidence in the libel suit, declared that he never touched liquor unless after great exposure in hunting or on a physician’s advice. He never drank a cocktail or a highball during his life. A huge crowd of visitors is thronging the city in order to hear the case. Mr Roosevelt sketched his career, and told of his hunting expeditions. Medical witnesses asserted that it was impossible that Mr Roosevelt could live his strenuous , life if he drank. It was likely that he would have died from the attempted assassination if he had been a drinker.
